This position performs specialized duties in the development and maintenance of GIS cadastral data.

Baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field. Post-secondary education or experience which provides the expertise required to perform effectively the functions of the position may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.

Three years of experience in the occupational field, sufficient to understand the major duties of the position.

Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Alaska for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer employment physical.

Completion of required Incident Command System (ICS) courses in accordance with Borough policy.

• Creates and maintains parcel and subdivision boundaries using plats, legal descriptions, and GPS points.
• Manages Borough cadastral fabric for tax map base using AutoCad and/or GIS technologies.
• Performs land record document research, based on plats, deeds, legal descriptions, and ordinances to accurately locate cadastral boundaries.
• Develops, maintains and executes quality assurance programs, including reviewing data and software.
• Develops and implements GIS/CAD related training and presentations.
• Troubleshoots technical issues related to GIS/CAD software and hardware.
• Remains informed of current developments in the field.
• Responds to internal and external customer service requests by defining scope of work with deadlines, producing maps, or analyzing data.
• Manages special projects as assigned.
• Provides oversight and functional direction of assigned contractors and employees daily activities.
• Conducts field inspections using mapping grade GPS survey equipment to collect and verify data.
• Provides GIS/CAD related assistance during activations of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
• Performs related duties.
